Apple’s developer betas of watchOS 27.3 put Audio Intelligence, which uses the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 microphones to analyze nearby conversations, in testers’ hands. Nothing reaches buyers yet, but the open question is how Apple handles bystander consent before a public release.

Marty’s Take:

Audio Intelligence turns the best fitness tracker question into a privacy question. If the Apple Watch Series 12 or Apple Watch Ultra 4 is always listening for useful context, buyers should expect friction in gyms, locker rooms and offices. Before paying for the new hardware, ask whether the feature can be switched off per location. Wearers shouldn’t have to explain their wrist to everyone nearby.
